According to the SIDA's Albania Anti-Corruption Study of 2007 one of the public services most typically affected by corruption is the environmental inspection of companies.
In 2005, unethical practices in connection with water sanitation resulted in debarment of six companies from any World Bank funded project. The companies were found guilty of bid rigging in relation to the reparation of water transmission pipes.
